The Catalyst pulled up to the hive in her sedan. It was an okay neighborhood, she supposed, certainly a bit lower on the scale than most of the places that she went to. She made a note of the hive itself: low, small, overgrown yard, leaves on the front stoop, ratty curtains in the windows. It didn't look like much care was being put into its maintenance. She sighed. "Whyy Kyyanas insiisted on going to a studyy partyy this far from the hive is beyyond me," she said to herself, shaking her head. She parked her car on the curb and walked up to the door, ringing the doorbell. A chime echoed inside.
"JURST A SECOND!!!" she heard, followed by running footsteps. The door was yanked open by a disheveled-looking young troll.
"oh, hey" the girl said. "you here for kyanars?"
Kyachril put a polite smile on. "Hello. Is Kyyanas readyy to leave yyet?"
The girl shook her head, shaking a few more strands out of her loose ponytail. "nah, it')) be a whi)e. you're sort of ear)y"
The Catalyst looked at her watch. "She texted me to be here... oh, well ten minutes from now I suuppose."
A shout came from inside the hive. "WHO'S AT THE DOOR?"
The girl turned around. "KYANARS' SIRSTER!" she yelled back in reply.
"Who is that?" Kyachril asked.
"WELL LET HER IN THEN!!" The voice from inside responded.
The girl turned back to face the Catalyst. "that's my sirster aggie," she replied, rolling her eyes. "(ome on in"
Kyachril smiled slightly and stepped into the house, looking around.
"Aggie, hmm?" she asked. "What's her full name?"
"uh," the girl said, indicating for her to continue down the hall. "her name's aarsamir. she (a))s herse)f the agitator. i (a)) her aggie. don't te)) her i to)d you, she haters that"
The Catalyst did a quick double take. The girl didn't seem to notice. "So yyou are her siister!" she said. "Nice to meet yyou." Her eyes glinted evilly.
"thanks" the girl responded, not paying attention to her guest. "you know her?"
Kyachril frowned slightly. "She tripped me once. There was a scene."
"yeah, she doers that" the girl said, ushering her into a central room. "anyway, you (an hang here in the )iving room whi)e we finirsh up"
"Alright," Kyachril said to the girl, who was already leaving. She heard sounds of trolls yelling in a nearby room. It appeared that her sister was trying to get two others to calm down. It did not appear to be going well. Kyachril went into the living room. She was staring at the decor, semi-startled by the yelling. She turned to see the Agitator sitting in a chair, drinking and watching tv intently. She didn't seem to have noticed her yet.
"So," Kyachril said. "Hello there. Have yyou prepared an apologyy?"
Aarsamir spewed beer all over the tv screen, surprised. "What?!!" she shouted, turning her head in shock.
The Catalyst folded her arms. "Hi."
"Why the he)) are you in my hive?!" the Agitator yelled.
"I'm picking up Kyyanas," Kyachril replied calmly.
"Oh." Aarsamir said, stumped for the moment. "You're her sirster."
"YYep."
"We)) shit." The Agitator scratched her head. She glared at the Catalyst. "And no, no I haven't prepared a fu(king apo)ogy. Have you prepared one for para)yzing my arm?"
Kyachril shook her head in mock dismay. "Sad. And of course not, yyou provoked me."
"I did not!"
"Liar."
The Agitator got up from her chair angrily, clutching her drink. Kyachril caught a whiff of alcohol from her breath. "Don't (ome into my fu(king hive and (a)) me a )iar," Aarsamir demanded, scowling.
Kyachril folded her arms. "No need to get offended, it's onlyy the truth."
"We)) too fu(king )ate, I'm offended." the Agitator replied.
"Whoops," the Catalyst retorted. "It was an accident, I swear." She was parroting the Agitator's tone from earlier almost exactly, adding several layers of irony on top for good measure.
Blood rose in Aarsamir's face. With a deft motion she flipped about half of her drink onto the front of the Catalyst's shirt. "WHOOPS," she said sarcastically.
The good mood that Kyachril had been enjoying from her parroting had been ruined. "That was uncalled for." She made a face, looking down on her ruined shirt front."And it smells."
Aarsamir put the hand not still holding her drink on her hip. "Oh, I beg to differ. You (ome into my fu(king hive and mo(k me, and you don't (a)) that provo(ation?" She made a rude hand gesture. "And fu(k you, thirs irs good beer."
"I'm sorryy if yyou take offense," the Catalyst replied, assessing the damage done to her shirt. "I onlyy wanted to set us equual again. YYou trip me, I attempt to humiliate yyou."
"Oh, irs that how it works?" the Agitator asked mockingly. "We)) I'm not the one with a soggy shirt, so I wou)d say that thirs irs my round, Cata)yst."
The Catalyst ignored this and craned her neck to see if Kyanas was ready yet. The arguing voices seemed to be louder now, and Kyanas and another girl were yelling over them to calm them down. She turned back to the Agitator. "Well it is yyour house I suuppose. Not a veryy big one."
"Hey, fu(k you." Aarsamir retorted. "Thirs hourse irs pretty damn good for my b)ood (o)or. I worked fu(king hard for it."
She folded her arms. "I supporse you wou)dn't know anything about working, wou)d you, greenb)ood?"
"I know a bit about working," the Catalyst replied.
"Uh-huh." The Agitator raised an eyebrow in disbelief. "Suuuure."
"Not as much as yyou I would think," she continued.
"Damn straight." Aarsamir stated, taking a sip of the remaining beer.
A malicious, spiteful look came to the Catalyst's face. "So, Aggie," she said casually, "do yyou think the little ones are finished yyet? It sounds like something is going down in the spare room."
For the second time that night, the Agitator spewed beer everywhere. Instead of the tv screen, however, the unfortunate recipient was Kyachril's face.
Her voice dropped dangerously low. "What. The fu(k. Did you jurst (a)) me."
The Catalyst was disgusted. "Hmm?" she asked, wiping her face off with her already-soggy sleeve. "Did yyou saayy something?"
"WHAT THE FUCK. DID YOU JURST SAY." Aarsamir set her glass down with an audible chink.
"Do yyou want me to repeat the whole thing?" the Catalyst replied, clearing her stinging eyes and glaring at the Agitator.
"No."
The Agitator whipped her hand back and backhanded the Catalyst in the face. Kyachril staggered a bit, surprised by the unexpected blow. Aarsamir shoved her by the shoulders into an armchair behind her. She fell into a sitting position, still holding her tender face in shock. "Don't fu(king (a)) me that." Her voice had slipped back into hazardously low range. "You have no right." She stood over the chair, her shoulders shaking in rage.
The Catalyst rubbed her aching face. "Is it copyyrighted or something?" she asked, sore.
"Where the fu(k did you hear that." Kyachril didn't respond. "FUCKING ANSWER ME."
The Catalyst looked up, her face outwardly calm. "YYour siis is free with her information."
A muscle twitched in the corner of Aarsamir's eye. "That )itt)e SHIT." She slapped the Catalyst again.
"Seriouslyy?!" she yelled, feeling her burning cheek turn green.
"Fu(k you, fu(k your )ursurs, and don't ever (a)) me that again." The Agitator looked around, enraged. She spotted the glass on the side table and picked it up, throwing it with as much force as she could into the Catalyst's stomach.
"Don't take it out on her plea-- oh %#?!." the Catalyst started, cut off by the wind rushing from her lungs.
The Agitator turned away to go to the spare room, but the Catalyst grabbed her arm, dazed. Aarsamir whipped her head around, furious.
"Don't hurt her," Kyachril demanded, "she didn't tell on purpose."
Aarsamir shoved Kyachril away from her arm. "Don't fu(king TOUCH ME," she ordered, turning back around to the hallway.
"Alright!" The Catalyst put her hands up in a placating gesture. "Just... it isn't her busiiness."
"Fu(k yers it irs, she to)d and now she hars to pay." She began walking off.
The Catlayst took a deep breath and got up. "Don't, please. Actuallyy, I don't think this will help." She launched herself at the Agitator, tackling her to the ground.
Aarsamir fell on her face, surprised. "Ow, SHIT!"
The Catalyst rolled off of her, crouching in case she tried something.
Aarsamir groaned and pushed off of the ground. Kyachril readied herself. "Just no. Don't do it."
"Fu(k you, why do you (are?"
The Catalyst frowned at this. "Never punish someone for something that isn't their fault," she responded.
The Agitator got up from the ground, winded. "And again I arsk, why the f)ying fu(k do you (are." She bent over, trying to get air back into her lungs.
The Catalyst looked up at her. "Just don't do it," she said. "It will destroyy yyour relationship and yyou will never get along and it will suuck."
"Ugh. Fu(k." The Agitator took a deep breath. "She a)ready doersn't )ike me, who the fu(k (arers."
"Me," the Catalyst stated. "Now don't do it."
Aarsamir looked at Kyachril oddly. "And why wou)d I ever want to )irsten to you?" she asked.
The Catalyst was slightly disconcerted by the odd look. "I have no idea," she replied, "mayybe because yyou will get hell from me if yyou do it?"
"Heh." The Agitator grinned. "I'd )ike to see you try."
"I don't want to tryy, but I will if I must." the Catalyst responded.
The Agitator grinned. "Uh-huh," she said. "Sure you don't."
Aarsamir launched herself at the Catalyst, who was starting to get up, and pinned her against the side of a couch. Kyachril glared at her. "So I ask yyou not to hurt someone and yyou hurt me instead?"
The Agitator's face was about an inch away from hers. "That's how it works," she said, breathing the smell of alcohol into Kyachril's face. Kyachril despised alcohol. "I gotta hit something," she continued. "You jurst happened to be ()orser."
The Catalyst sighed. "Fair enough. If it isn't her it might as well be me."
A smirk came to Aarsamir's face, displaying very many pointed teeth. "Good to see you're on board." She drove her knee into Kyachril's stomach.
Kyachril was determined to sit there and take it stoically, if that's what it took to keep an innocent safe. "Ow."
The grin widened. "Oh, I'm jurst getting started."
Suddenly they heard footsteps. The girl from before walked in with Kyanas, still discussing the project. They stopped in their tracks when they saw the two adults. "uh," the girl said, staring. "irs thirs a bad time?" The Catalyst noticed the existence of other people in the room, and blinked.
"Wow, alright," Kyanas said, breaking the awkward silence. "So do I get to ride home with yyou or do I have to walk?"
The Catalyst could see the girl fidgeting, uncomfortable. Aarsamir got up, brushing off her pants. "Uh. Sorry you had to see that, kids."
Kyachril sighed in relief. "Oh thank gog. It was getting warm under here."
The Agitator tunred around angrily. "HEY!" she yelled. "You shut up, I'm not done with you."
"yers you are," the girl, her sister as Kyachril remembered, retorted. Aarsamir folded her arms.
"Oh, whatever," Kyachril said, getting up as well. "Small one, are yyou prepared to leave?"
The girl raised an eyebrow. "sma)) one?"
"Well she can't call me Kyy," Kyanas replied. "Sure, lets go."
They walked to the door. "bye kyanars," the girl said, waving.
The Agitator glared at the Catalyst. "Bye," she spat.
Kyachril turned to her. "And now please, Aarsiimar, can yyou not do the thing I told yyou not to do? Thanks."
The glare intensified. "No promirsers."
Kyachril smiled mock-innocently, recieving the glare in good humor. Aarsamir flipped her off. "Do I have to stayy and prevent it?" Kyachril asked, ignoring the gesture and sending Kyanas to the car.
"Fu(k you, no." the Agitator replied.
"Then I'll take myy leave."
"Thank god for that," Aarsamir said, making a face of displeasure.
Kyachril walked down the steps especially sloylw so as to detect and intercept any planned hurting of innocents. Aarsamir bent over to her sister's auricular sponge clot. "I')) dea) with you )ater," she whispered.
Kyanas got in the car, waiting for her sister, who was still walking down.
"so she your kirsmersirs now?" Aruale asked in a whisper.
"Shut the fu(k up."
Luckily for Aarsamir, Kyachril didn't hear Aruale. "No, yyou won't." she replied to the first statement, walking to the car.
The Agitator straightened up. "Fu(k you."
Kyachril turned back around. "Likewise," she said, smiling slightly.
Aarsamir spun on her heel and pulled Aruale back inside, slamming the door.
The Catalyst got in the car and drove away while Kyanas tried very hard not to snicker. She failed to do so.
((A note: Aggie overreacted when Cata called her Aggie because that's what Beardad calls her, and he's in the hospital right now so she has all this stress and Kyachril just made her explode. She doesn't usually react like that. ))
